Goodbye El Ay and hello Washington, DC! A big change up, right? Some people tell me it’s important to finish school, so here I am, away from the city of hopes and dreams and back in the home of politics and Olivia Pope. However, that’s not to say the fashion isn’t fabulous from coast to coast. It totally is, and I’m so excited to take on my junior year and show you all the greatest looks from George Washington University.
For those who don’t know me or are still totally in awe of this new CollegeFashionista relaunch and need a refresher, my name is Ali Stagnitta and this is my third year working with CollegeFashionista. I have had the opportunity to write for the Huffington Post, pose for Seventeen Magazine, model a pair of American Eagle Outfitters jeans and have backstage access to New York Fashion Week, all through my work with CollegeFashionista. This semester I’m so excited for the amazing experiences ahead and to take you all with me on the fabulous journey!
I recently returned from a summer interning in Los Angeles where I worked for celebrity stylists and designers, Emily Current and Meritt Elliot. I was able to handpick clothing for Jessica Alba, Emma Roberts, Sarah Silverman and many other celebrities and use my own judgment to help dress them for premiers, press or Red Carpet events. Interning also comes with a handful of errands that no one wants to do, but I didn’t mind because they included walking up and down Rodeo Drive picking up gowns for the stars. This summer truly opened my eyes to a new world of fashion, but I wouldn’t have gotten there if it weren’t for my experience with CollegeFashionista and the knowledge Amy, Melissa and Sammy have provided me with.
When I left L.A., I gave one piece of advice, which I will give to all of you reading this as you embark on a new semester and as CollegeFashionista kicks off a new era in fashion blogging: dream hard.
