Hi Fashionistas and Fashionistos! I’m Ali and words cannot describe how excited I am to join the CollegeFashionista team as a first-time Style Guru writing the WHAT TO WEAR column. I am going into my second year at the University of South Florida with a major in Communications focusing on Media and Culture. Interning for CollegeFasionista is one of the best opportunities I’ve ever gotten and I could not be more thankful. We all have the tendency to walk down the street and have an in-mind opinion of other people’s style. Now I’m lucky enough to share mine with you all!
I was born and raised here in Tampa, Florida and last year I decided to try and go away for school but came to the realization that Tampa was where I needed to be. So, this year is going to be like my freshman year all over again. New school, new people and new fashion trends—I couldn’t be more excited! I cannot wait to see what my peers have in store this semester for their fall styles. Will it be plaid, will the neon trend continue or can we bring back butterfly clips? We’re just going to have to wait and see, I guess!
Ever since I can remember, fashion has been one of my major interests. I’ve been dressing myself since day one, even if it was in overalls and snapbacks (not one of my proudest moments in life). Also, you have not and will never catch me missing an issue of Lucky, Teen Vogue and, of course my personal favorite, Vogue. I will never pass up an opportunity to shop, like never, ever. In the famous words of Wildfox Couture, “Shopping is my cardio.” When it comes to my style, well, I guess you can say I like to be all over the board. One day you might find me in a skater skirt, blazer and pumps with a chic clutch (Olivia Palermo style) and the next day I’ll bring out my skinnies, combat boots and a cut-off tank. It all depends on what side of the bed I wake up on!
Currently, my life feels as if it’s on full speed ahead and before I know it I am going to be in some place called the “real world.” I don’t know much about it, but I hear it’s scary. So, as I prepare myself for it, some of my backbones are my family, my friends, social media, Netflix (lots of it) and the almighty, god-like coffee. I hope you enjoy reading my posts as much as I enjoy creating them and have a wonderful, chic semester, Fashionistas/os!
