My name is Ali Kasper and I’m delighted to be a Style Guru for a fourth semester. I’m 22 years old and a senior at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. I’m majoring in graphic design and minoring in fine arts, advertising and communications. In addition to my academics and writing for CollegeFashionista, I work part time as a receptionist at Philosophie Salon & Apothecary. I’m blessed to be working with some of the most amazing and talented people in the industry. They keep me up-to-date with the latest and greatest trends in fashion, design and beauty.
I grew up in the suburbs of Milwaukee, Wisconsin where my enthusiasm for fashion was always somewhat suppressed. It wasn’t until I moved to the nation’s oldest city, St. Augustine, Florida that I could fully embrace my personal style. St. Augustine has a unique culture that encourages individuals to thrive within their craft, whether it be music, art or fashion.
My personal style is random. I’ve never really felt the need to totally embrace any certain style or trends. I think it’s fun to play with your wardrobe and take on any look you’d like. I think it’s silly when someone says they can’t “pull off” a look. Why not? Give it a try!
I will admit that I have a very serious addiction to the color black, leather jackets and red lipstick. It’s also very unlikely that you’ll ever spot me in shoes without heels. Being a petite 5’1” I quickly adopted the notion that the higher the heel, the better. I think that style should be effortless, but never sloppy. Looking put together is very important to me.
Writing for CollegeFashionista allows me to do what I love—praise people for their fabulous style! I look forward to sharing Flagler College’s campus style with you.
