STYLE GURU BIO: Ali Hart

Hi everyone! My name is Ali Hart and I am now a Style Guru. I am going to be a junior at Fordham University, majoring in Communications with a concentration in Journalism, and minoring in Marketing. I have had the pleasure of interning with a fashion designer in NYC as well as assisting other fashion/beauty bloggers!

It is safe to say that my heart lies with the fashion and beauty industries. I spend a lot of my free time watching makeup videos and doing makeup on myself and friends. I also love to shop (although not great for my college budget), and could spend hours wandering around high-end and affordable stores alike.

I have had a love for fashion and clothes for as long as I can remember. My mom always allowed me to dress myself (for better or for worse), and even as a young child I found clothes to be an outlet for my self-expression. I would prance around town in pajamas with cowboy boots or my favorite sparkly, red shoes, channeling my inner Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. Luckily, I grew out of that phase before it stopped being cute. Throughout middle school and high school I spent hours picking out my outfits for the next day. When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answers were either a fashion designer, a wedding dress designer, or a stylist. Although I am still unsure exactly of what I want to be, I know that it must center around clothes, shoes, or makeup.

This fall, I will be showcasing the style trends that I come across in N.Y.C. As one of the fashion capitals of the world, I look forward to bringing you creative, fashion-forward looks that you might not find anywhere else (especially not in a place like my small hometown in Connecticut).

My style has subdued from the days of The Wizard of Oz shoes paired with my pink, ruffled nightgown. But, don’t get me wrong, I still love a pop of color from my shoes with a neutral outfit. Comfort is also a big factor in my style, as you can see in these pictures with my stretchy Zara leggings and flowy tunic. I usually go for understated, simple jewelry like my gold cross necklace.

The trend I am most looking forward to this fall is red plaid because it screams cool weather and cozy clothes. Alexander Wang and Vivienne Westwood have both showcased their take on the trend in a tasteful way, bringing color to the classic dark hued fall fashions.
