Hello, hello! My name is Alexis Merrill and I am about to start my junior year at the University of Oregon where I’m studying Journalism, Public Relations and Business. Being the Journalism major I am, I understand the importance of words and how they can express you. I am also aware that there are many times where there are simply no words to express how you feel and I think that’s where fashion comes in. Fashion can express all those things about you that words just couldn’t do justice.

I am from the beautiful state of Oregon that has many, many seasons. If you were to peek in my closet you would see many styles that reflect the many seasons Oregon has. I am a firm believer that when it comes to fashion styles, “less is more” is not relevant and you should always have an adventure with the clothes you wear. I think it would be impossible to sum up my style in a couple of words- but I would classify my style as chic with a twist of bohemian and the occasionally preppy.

For this look, I decided to wear a simple oversized denim shirt dress paired with fringe Steve Madden booties. I think this dress is a staple item every girl should have because it’s simplicity offers endless possibilities—you could rock it with cowboy boots at a country concert, a pair of Converse to class or out to dinner with your favorite pair of booties. I choose my favorite Steve Madden booties because I love the new obsession around fringe, especially on shoes. Fringe is the perfect way to add sass to any outfit. If I’m not running to class in yoga pants and a messy bun (which is often), you’ll never find me trying too hard, just wearing simple pieces that are comfortable. Comfort is key to me. As far as accessories go, I like to keep it simple as well. I am loving the latest buzz around Alex and Ani charm bracelets because they match just about everything and are a fun accessory to rock when each charm is personal to you. I also have a tendency to base my outfits around my shoes because if there’s one thing you should know about me, I am a firm believer that good shoes really do take you to good places in life.

This is my first term being a part of the amazing CollegeFashionista team and I am absolutely thrilled! I have a crazy love for writing and fashion and I can’t wait to share that love with people who love it just as much as me. As Marc Jacobs says, “Let’s do what we love and do a lot of it.”
