Hey Fashionistas/os! My name is Alexandra and I live in Montreal, Quebec. I’m currently a student at McGill University studying Joint Honors Political Science and Philosophy with a minor in Sexual Diversity Studies. I’m an aspiring writer, so I am thrilled to be able to pursue this passion with CollegeFashionista and give you a glimpse into some of the amazing fashion here at my campus.

I’ve been interested in fashion for as long as I can remember. Before I came to university, I attended a private school for 13 years and had to wear a less-than-flattering uniform. Because of the dress code, I didn’t have much of an opportunity to express myself through my clothes. This meant that when I did have the chance to wear non-uniform clothing, I took it as an opportunity to really show myself off.

When I came to university, my love for fashion was only enhanced by the freedom to wear whatever I wanted. The people of Montreal have such an uninhibited, no-rules approach to fashion. You can find everything from preppy to hipster on my campus. Living in this city has greatly allowed me to explore my interest in fashion and establish my own personal style.

Everyone tells me I have a distinct sense of style. While it may not be the boldest or most colourful, it definitely is my own. I tend to describe my personal style as an off-beat combination between edgy, feminine, urban and occasionally grungy. I’m a musician, so I take a lot of inspiration from the music and pop culture scene, particularly the ‘90s era. I don’t have one specific store where I like to shop. Instead, I enjoy finding both basic and unique pieces at a variety of stores that generally don’t go together. Seriously, some of my favourite pieces come from Old Navy, Urban Outfitters and BCBGMAXAZRIA.

I’m a self-admitted shopaholic. I have an unhealthy obsession with band T-shirts and anything that comes in black, leather or plaid. Accessories are my favourite part of an outfit. I believe the right accessories can make or break an outfit. I’m never caught without a couple of rings  and a good pair of sunglasses. Lastly, I always finish an outfit with the perfect bag. I love adding to my growing collection of purses and have always had an unexplainable obsession with oversized bags.

As you can tell, I adore fashion and am so excited to share this passion with you! I always love stalking different fashion blogs to gage inspiration so I hope that my posts will be able to provide the same to you. I always say that the most important thing in any outfit is that it makes you feel confident. If you don’t feel confident in your outfit, then something is wrong with it. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks of your outfit as long as you feel like the stylish Fashionista/o you really are!
