STYLE GURU BIO: Alexa Poynter

Hello to all the Fashionistas/os out there! I am excited to join the CollegeFashionista family. Currently I am a proud Boilermaker at Purdue University. I am majoring in apparel design & technology, minoring in Italian and pursuing a Certificate in Entrepreneurship. I am a girl on-the-go who enjoys staying busy and always working towards a new project.

I have always had a creative and fun spirit. Even as a young Fashionista I had an eye for color, design and attention to detail. My journey with fashion began when I took sewing classes in high school and from there I discovered all of the opportunities the fashion industry has to offer. The fast-pace and creative environment is what captured my heart. I knew fashion and I would be a perfect match.

When it comes to describing my personal style it is hard to put it into a single category. On my busiest days running between classes and work, I prefer to wear sneakers, leggings and a comfortable top. Other days I like to rock the bohemian-chic look. Sometimes I feel like being minimalistic or girly. My style changes on a daily basis, but I always try to have one statement piece in my outfit. Whether it’s my top, shoes or pants I always like to wear one piece of clothing that stands out among the rest. Fall and winter are my favorite seasons to dress for because of all the warm sweaters, wool scarves and brown boots. This winter, my go to outfit includes my favorite olive green sweater from Achro paired with a fun faux fur vest similar to this one. I usually wear them with black leggings and a pair of brown ankle boots.

Whether it is my style or my personality, I am not the type of girl that you can fit into a box and I definitely do not want to be put into a box. This free-spirited girl lives day-to-day embracing the beautiful sights I see and the beautiful people I meet. Every day is a blessed gift that I don’t intend on wasting. I look forward to bringing you articles on the latest trends from the Fashionistas I meet along the way. Be sure to come back the first of every month and check out my latest article!
