STYLE GURU BIO: Alexa Casuccio

Greetings fellow Fashionistas/os! I am Alexa Casuccio and I could not be more excited to start my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista. I am from a small town on the Jersey shore, but major in Finance at Temple University in Philadelphia. I also recently joined the Fashion and Business Club where I quickly found out is full of people who are interested in the same things as me!

I’ve always had a love for fashion and a bit of a shopping addiction, but I also have a serious thing for numbers. For a long time, I thought I had to decide whether to use the mathematical and analytical side of my brain or the creative side of it. After my first conversation with members of the Fashion and Business club, I then realized I had it all wrong. I didn’t have to choose between fashion and finance, and figured there was a way to incorporate the two.

My style is greatly influenced by both my coastal hometown and my current residence in Philadelphia. Growing up I was always into beachy, bohemian looks, but since moving to Philadelphia I’ve found a more sleek and sophisticated side to my style. Now I play with the balance between the two and have a lot of fun with it.

In my opinion, an outfit is only as good as its accessories. I think shoes are the most important aspect of any outfit and everyone should own at least one pair of great shoes that go with everything. A simple necklace or bold earrings can do wonders for any outfit. Jewelry always makes a statement and I think it’s ignored way too often. I am all for accessories as you can see from my chunky platforms with polka-dot socks, metallic-detailed belt from Urban Outfitters and daisy choker. I paired these with a denim button-down skirt and a stripped fitted T-shirt to allow the belt and the shoes to be the statement pieces.
