STYLE GURU BIO: Alex Torcia

Hi, I am Alexandra Torcia, but you can call me Alex! I am a sophomore at Bryant University studying marketing with a minor in French. Since my school does not have a fashion program, I want to explore the industry and apply my business degree into what I love. Next year I hope to study abroad in France and fully emerge myself in French culture and hopefully become bilingual. I have always had an interest in the glamour of classic Parisian culture and I am excited for that journey in the future.

A little about myself, I love health and fitness, shopping, and traveling. I have been riding horses competitively my whole life and adore the sophisticated, European style that is a part of being an Equestrian. Being the healthiest version of myself reflects into my style because it enhances confidence in my outfits. You can always see me out for a run in my Nike sneakers and headed to Lululemon. Traveling is very important to me because I value the exposure of culture and exploration that comes out of it. When you travel you expand your knowledge on fashion, food, and traditions. You also become more well rounded. There is so much more outside of your realm of where you grew up and I find it amazing to experience it. I have been down the East Coast of the United States, California, The Dominican Republic, and Italy. In May I will be spending two weeks in South Africa and I will be spending next year’s spring semester in Europe.

I would describe my style as ecliptic. I can range from sporty chic, to city chic, to preppy. The majority of the time I find myself more city chic. I love being comfortable, yet fashionable in my Lululemon’s and sporty lifestyle sneakers when I have a long day of classes and need that motivation to get to the gym. As a family, we spend a lot of our summers on the Cape and Nantucket and that is when my preppy side blossoms.

This outfit is something easy and comfortable, yet fashionable, that I would wear if I was going into the city with friends, brunch on a Sunday, or even a day of classes on a Monday when I want to start my week off strong. The sweater is a dark grey, woven piece with two front pockets. The under piece is actually a dress that doubles as an evening dress when you wear it with cute heels or on its own. The shoes are weatherproof and extremely comfortable for blocks of city walking. The details of this look are the rose gold watch from Burberry, a classic Tiffany necklace, and a deep red lip. You can even make it more casual with a nude lip and still look great.

“You may as well be you because everyone else is taken” -Oscar Wilde. I love this quote because not only does it apply to life and career, but individual style.
