STYLE GURU BIO: Alex Giori

Hey there, guys and gals! My name is Alex Giori and I’m thrilled to be a new Style Guru on the CollegeFashionista team. I’m a junior studying journalism and media studies at Rutgers University. My goal is to one day combine my love of writing and fashion into a career, so to be taking my first steps towards achieving that is very exciting.

For as long as I can remember I have had a deep love for all things clothing and fashion. One of my earliest childhood memories is picking out my first day of school outfit in kindergarten: a pink and purple plaid skirt that was right on-trend for the cusp of the ’90s. Being a shy kid, clothing was a way for me to express who I was and who I wanted to be in a way that words didn’t quite allow. I formed a sacred relationship with fashion and as I have grown and changed, my appreciation for the expressive element of this particular art form has grown with me.

Today I would describe my style as casual and laid back. I’m pumped that so many styles from the ’70s seem to be making a comeback this season because the carefree attitude of these trends fits well within my wardrobe. Although I love to dress up when given the chance, I prefer a low maintenance look that will appear put together no matter what I have going on or what I end up doing. Booties, like the suede ALDO ones pictured, are my go-to shoes because they translate well from a day to night look no matter the season. The NYC high-rise jeans are a staple in my wardrobe because you can never go wrong with a good pair of denim.

I hope you all enjoyed reading as much as I’ve enjoyed writing. I cannot wait to start my CollegeFashionista journey and I look forward to sharing more functional fashion tips with you all throughout the summer!
