Happy New Year, Fashionistas! With a brand new year upon us, I am beyond excited to be joining the College Fashionista team as a Style Guru this semester. I am currently a junior at the University of Georgia where I am majoring in Fashion Merchandising and minoring in Art History. I recently returned to the States after spending my fall 2012 semester in the beautiful city of Florence, Italy. I fell in love not only with the fantastic Italian cuisine, but the fashion as well, solidifying my choice in pursuing a future career in fashion. I had the opportunity to do everything from visit the Gucci prototype factory to viewing Marilyn Monroe’s infamous Ferragammo shoe collection, it was amazing to say the least. After spending four months in Europe my style has shifted from my brightly colored and slightly preppy choices of clothing to a more edgy and fashion forward look. Over the past year I have also been a sales representative for Nordstrom and hope to intern for their corporate headquarters in the buying office this summer, fingers crossed.
After being in Europe, I have discovered a newfound interest in men’s fashion and how it can be just as edgy and fashion forward as womens’ fashion. For all of you who don’t believe me, a wise man we all know and love, Charles Dickens, even agreed with the importance of men’s fashion when he said “Any man may be in good spirits and good temper when he’s well dressed. There ain’t much credit in that.” Now that I am back in Georgia for the semester, I look forward to updating all of you Fashionistos out there with the latest trends and styles for spring 2013 and proving that there are just as many Fashionistos as there are Fashionistas.
