STYLE GURU BIO: Alana Boardman

Welcome to my little corner of the Internet! My name is Alana Boardman and I am a senior at Florida State University studying Retail Merchandising and Product Development with a minor in Business. This will be my second semester with CollegeFashionista. I am so excited for this opportunity to delve back into writing about the amazing, creative student body at Florida State. Personal style can reveal so much about a person before you even speak a word to them. That is what I love about being a Style Guru. It allows me to really observe what interests the student body and give them a platform to reflect their diverse personal style.

In the popular show Gossip Girl, Blair Waldorf stated, “Fashion is the most powerful art there is. It’s movement, design and architecture all in one. It shows the world who we are and who we want to be.” I think this is the truest quote related to fashion. It is an art full of details and thought. That is why so many people become enchanted with the idea of working in the clothing industry. There are so many layers beneath the surface that you have no other choice but to go all in and never look back.

When it comes to fashion, I like to keep it classic. My favorite outfit generally involves an LBD and a pop of red lipstick. My personal styles reflect my love for the elegance of the ’50s and the mod lines of the 1960s. I am constantly looking for inspiration everywhere. I love looking at old fashion spreads from the ’60s or watching classic movies for inspiration. How could one not come away inspired after watching movies with Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly?

I look forward to meeting all the interesting and stylish students wandering around Florida State this semester.
