This is it Fashionistas/os! This is my senior year at Whittier College and my fourth semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. Now, more than ever, I am ready to report the best fashion advice for all your trendsetters.
After glancing through my previous STYLE GURU BIO photos it is apparent that my style has evolved as I’ve ascended through college. That is the beauty of fashion; it depicts the different stages you are at in life. I would say that I am at a very confident stage not only in my style, but also in my career choice. After interning at BeachMint this summer, an e-commerce fashion company, I am once again reassured that working in the fashion industry is what I meant to do. As a social media intern I learned how to translate fashion through various social outlets. Most importantly, I got a behind the scenes experience of a fashion company and it wasn’t what I imagined, it was better!
Like I mentioned earlier, I am much more confident in styling my outfits. First off I wouldn’t have been caught wearing mixed prints a few years ago. Now however, I proudly flaunt my striped blouse and polka-dot skirt. And black boots with studs on the side? Oh yes, a whole new me has emerged. But like any good ‘ole Fashionista, I know how to shop smart and when to splurge a little. Since trends are constantly changing I will usually shop at Forever 21, H&M and Target for affordable pieces. Yet when it comes to purses and jewelry I just can’t get enough of kate spade and Juicy Couture. Can we all just take a second to thank kate spade for making polka-dots cool again!
I am excited to be writing the STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK column again for Whittier and I can’t wait to see what all my fellow classmates will be wearing this fall semester.
