STYLE GURU BIO: Adriana Sánchez

Alexa Chung stated, “I’m interested in aesthetics, in the way things look, in finding something in an image that maybe people haven’t seen.” I feel that fashion is a constant search for a certain look that evolves parallel to how your personality molds everyday. My name is Adriana Sánchez, and I am debuting as a newcomer Style Guru. I am a rising sophomore studying Architecture with a minor in Art History at the University of Notre Dame. I love painting and photography; one of my hobbies is trying to stuff my brain with weird art related facts that no one knows (or really cares about), but I tell them anyway. Naturally, anything to do with coordinating a composition and setting up a certain visual experience fascinates me. Becoming a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista felt so organic and right that I had to do it. Anyways, I do love stopping strangers around campus and having a nice chat especially if it is about fashion.

In addition to the visual arts, fashion has always captured my attention. On weekends, my mom and I had specific mother and daughter shopping sprees dedicated solely to finding classic and staple pieces for our closets. Creating an outfit is more that daily duty, it involves a certain energy that can make anyone’s day much brighter.

My personal style is really dedicated to classic pieces that can be mixed and matched. Black is my go to color in any season or occasion. However, I am currently making myself experiment with more colors and prints since I am addicted to the 1960s right now. I am fascinated with the past and the progression of different decades and lifestyles. Therefore, I look to fashion from the past to give me inspiration. Sometimes, I think I was born in the wrong time period.

Even though I love anything vintage, I have been loving tribal and summer inspired pieces with neutral colors—yes, I do mean black. Here, I am wearing a black crop top from Zara and a long black cotton skirt I stole from my mother’s closet (this is not the exact on but a close call.) I paired this with a statement necklace I recently acquired from Zara. You can find me almost 24/7 wearing either a skirt or dress anywhere I go since I am an island girl at heart. I cannot wait to try some different outfits during the summer!
