STYLE GURU BIO: Abigail DeVore

Hi there Fashionistas/os! My name is Abigail DeVore and I’m entering my senior year as a journalism and entrepreneurship student at Temple University. I’ve been calling Philadelphia home for the past three years and this is my first summer living in the city full time and having the title of Style Guru.

I’ve been following CollegeFashionista since my freshman year here at Temple when I got involved in a club with some past and present Style Gurus. When I got the email asking for applicants, I finally jumped on it. There was no better time than now to showcase not only my unique tastes but those of the City of Brotherly Love.

My friends were all surprised to find out I would be a Style Guru, reminding me they see me more in leggings and oversized sweatshirts than anything else, but I reminded them who they ask to borrow clothes for date parties and to find out what is considered business casual. I almost have a uniform down pat after three non-stop years running to and from meetings, classes, work, internships and, finally after a long wait, happy hours. I can never go wrong with jeans or black pants, a flannel or black top and some fun sneakers or flats—it’s appropriate for everything I do!

I do love getting dressed up though; I’ll take any opportunity to break out a cute dress for brunch or a fun crop top for a night at the bar. My new love is rompers and jumpsuits: I feed off the flexibility of pants with the easiness of a dress and how the right one can effortlessly transition from a day of errands to a night of dancing with a switch of Converse to heels and the addition of a statement necklace.

Between summer classes, my office job, and stuffing my face at as many new restaurants as possible, I can’t wait to get to a few hours to myself to explore a different side of Philadelphia and myself thanks to CollegeFashionista.
