STYLE GURU BIO: Abby Meier

Hi Fashionistas/os! I’m Abby, and I couldn’t be more excited about my first STYLE GURU BIO here on CollegeFashionista. As a new Style Guru, I will be keeping up with the fashion trends here in Madison and writing about all of the fun and new things that I see! I can’t wait to share all of the fantastic style here on my campus with people.

This winter, I will be heading to Costa Rica for two weeks of volunteering fun. Hopefully when you see me next, I’ll have a tan and a ton of freckles! When I return, I will be heading back to the University of Wisconsin-Madison for the spring semester as a sophomore Psychology Major. Additionally, I am testing the waters for a Criminal Justice Certificate, which I’m really excited about!

As for my personal style, it changes with the seasons. During the frigid winter months, I would describe myself as preppy yet comfortable. I show off my winter style with sweaters, cardigans, boots, comfy jeans and other cold weather staples. Sweaters are one of my favorite things to wear during the fall and winter, because you can dress them up or down depending on the occasion.

My look for today shows one of my favorite outfits. I’ve been really into layering sweaters on top of button-down flannels and blouses lately, and I express that here with my favorite cream cardigan on top of a soft plaid flannel. I love this combination because it keeps me incredibly warm, but it looks more polished than a bulky winter coat. I pair that with a comfy pair of well-fitted jeans, and some wedges by TOMS shoes. I’m obsessed with these wedges because they give me some height but they’re still comfortable enough to wear to class. I finish the look off with some mixed-and-matched silver bracelets. Mixing sizes and textures in jewelry helps to give the outfit more depth and interest.

In addition to my outfit, I’ve also chosen a plum nail lacquer to offset the neutral tone of my clothing. Plum is a really trendy color this season, and it gives my outfit the slightest hint of color. This polish is in the color “In the Lobby” by Essie, one of my favorites! I also used my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette to add some blush pink tones to my eye makeup. Beauty products are some of my favorite things in the world, and you can expect more mentions of makeup and beauty products in my posts to come.

Well, there you have it! Stay tuned for my future posts about the unique style that Madison has to offer.
