My name is Abby Angelo and I am headed into my junior year at Southern Connecticut State University as an English Major. I am more than thrilled to be reporting for ColllegeFashionista for the first time this semester, as writing has always been a passion of mine! I have been working retail jobs since I was 16 and to most people’s disbelief, I have never complained! Currently, I work for the Jack Wills in Westport, Connecticut. My store is one big closet to me and I love helping people build outfits that help them look and feel good!
This semester, I will be living in two different worlds as I work in Westport, Connecticut and go to school in New Haven. For those of you who are from Connecticut, you know how different those two places are. Westport is what you expect when you hear Connecticut; a small beach town where Vineyard Vines clad families drive Range Rovers to their country club soirées. Meanwhile, New Haven is a busy city and what the infamous bookworms of Yale University call home. I cannot wait to see what amazing styles I can find in these two separate worlds while also finding a way to balance myself between the two!
When it comes down to it, my style revolves around simplicity. I believe that having pieces that can match with everything is what justifies those impulse buys. As long as you own a solid navy or black blazer, perfect-fit skinny jeans and a crisp white T-shirt, go ahead and buy all the fun scarves, statement necklaces and animal print shoes you want! An array of button-down shirts are also a wardrobe must as they can be dressed up for business or down for casual wear with ease. As long as you have those basics, you will never be without something to wear with those bold accessories. With that being said, I will spend the big bucks on the basics so they are guaranteed to last. For those fleeting trends though, I will stick to the cheap finds! This way my wallet can keep up with the constant flow of style evolution.
As a Fashionista/Fashionisto, when you have a lot going on, the best advice is stick to is, “No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up” (as stated by Regina Brett). The upcoming semester is looking to be the most hectic of my college career and I am delighted to fit CollegeFashionista into my weekly regimen. Even when the papers are piling up and my schedule leaves me with no downtime, looking my best will remain a priority. When you look good you feel good, and feeling good is the key to succeeding in whatever you do! Therefore, keep up with me this semester as I report on the STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK to give your daily fashion choices a little something sweet!
