STYLE ADVICE: Turtlenecks for Any Temperature

At last, the snow is melting, and the temperature outside isn’t as mind numbingly cold. I think it’s safe to say that we have made it through the worst of what winter has to offer. While you probably shouldn’t pack away your parkas for good, a 40-degree day is the perfect time to try out some new and interesting winter/spring trends.

The humble turtleneck has been a major trend since it first appeared on the runways of Tory Burch, Christian Dior and Creatures of the Wind back in the fall of 2016. Although this trend is highly functional, it can be extremely fashionable and the perfect transition piece between winter and spring.

This trend can be worn in a multitude of different ways. If the weather is still very cold where you live, try putting a turtleneck underneath a low-cut sweater. You can also pair a turtleneck with a cool piece of outerwear, such as a motorcycle jacket or a bomber jacket. If the weather by you is headed toward spring, throw a turtleneck under a pretty summer dress or a button-down shirt to add a warm twist to any outfit.

While on campus, I spotted this Fashionista enjoying the weather and rocking an awesome outfit. She was wearing a red turtleneck and navy blue pants. She added a motorcycle jacket on top for a bit of added warmth. A pair of black booties and a structured Kate Spade handbag completed her sophisticated look. When asked about the inspiration for her outfit, she cited a mannequin from the Louis Vuitton store in Las Vegas from 2015.

Whether the weather by you is on the brink of freezing or finally warming up, there is surely a creative way to add a turtleneck to your outfit. Keeping warm while looking cool has never been easier.
