STYLE ADVICE: Punk is In

Unsure of what to wear today? Why not channel some of the oldies? Vintage is here to stay and so are your dad’s old rock ’n’ roll T-shirts from the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, and even early ’80s! In my opinion, there’s nothing more classic and chic than that torn up Stones T-shirt and some leather. I’m definitely an advocate of anything classic—if it’s vintage, even better!

Let me break it down: so, it’s date night and you’re going out with someone totally new, nervous, and to top it off your seemingly large walk-in closet is suddenly microscopic. Do you dress it up or keep it casual? The goldmine of old shirts shoved in your bottom drawer randomly comes to mind—the answer! Throw on an old Led Zeppelin T-shirt with some leather pants or your favorite mini skirt and not only are you ready to rock (I’ve got the jokes), but what better conversation piece than one of the greatest English rock bands of all time? It’s an icebreaker and style saver all in one!

Oldie rocker T-shirts not your vibe? Any vintage-style graphic T-shirt will do. It’s the ultimate way to add a little edge to any basic outfit, or dress down your New York Fashion Week slacks and Louboutin pumps in time for that after party.

This babe turned her everyday uniform up a notch with the perfect Ramones graphic T-shirt, her mom’s vintage jean jacketripped jeans, and velvet platforms. She’s ready to go from afternoon class to drinks with the homegirls in no time! So, whenever you’re lacking inspiration or unsure of how to change up your usual simple ensemble, look to the ages of vintage—made before 1996 and over 20 years old—for the perfect piece to up your style game. Punk is in, my friends, and I’m not complaining.
