STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Wrap Me Up

February 4th, 2015 at 2:00am

Presents now aren’t the only things you can wrap during the winter season. A major trend this season is oversized scarves. Huge blanket scarves may look like a poncho, but they are much more versatile. These scarves can be worn in a variety of ways, and no matter which way you prefer, they always look fashionable. This Fashionista is a perfect example of how to style the blanket style for everyday wear.

The Fashionista centers her whole outfit around her scarf, which is the main statement piece. She simply drapes the scarf over her shoulders. She keeps the rest of the pieces in her outfit simple, by wearing a black dress and tights underneath the scarf. The dark colors allow the scarf to really take the spotlight. Every other item she wears either matches the neutral color swatch of the scarf or acts as a canvas for the scarf. The Fashionista matches her tall, brown boots to the earthy tones of her scarf. The earthy tones create a boho vibe throughout her outfit. Her silver hoop earrings also help to accentuate her boho style.

Coincidentally, I was also wearing a blanket scarf around my shoulders the same day I photographed her. If two Fashionistas wearing this trend isn’t reason enough to try it out for yourself, then I don’t what is (I’m halfway kidding, of course)! Why not take advantage of an opportunity to wrap yourself in a cozy blanket and remain fashionable!?
