This might come as a shock, but sometimes it’s really hard to find a proper Fashionista roaming the city streets. Especially at the time of year when the seasons are shifting, many of us just aren’t sure what to wear. The truth is, I don’t have a multitude of photos stocked up on my camera’s memory card waiting to be used. There are weeks when I have to search long and hard for a well-dressed guy or gal, and it’s frustrating. “Where are all the Fashionistas,” I complain to my friends as we walk down the street.
Then there are the days my eyes instantly dart to a particular pair of shoes, a satchel or, in this case, a coat. I mean, how could you not be lured in by the luxe, blue fur? It looks soft enough to sleep in, it’s not too bulky or too bright, and, the best part is, you don’t have to think before you shrug it on. What do I mean? Well, the inspiration for this getup certainly can’t be traced down to a science — and that’s not a bad thing. In fact, it’s the beauty of such a wardrobe staple. When you’ve got a jacket that you can throw over absolutely anything in order to achieve a commendable level of chic, you’re set, sartorially speaking.
So, now you’ve got to find The One, and, truth be told, you shouldn’t be afraid to splurge. If it’s the right shade, a flattering silhouette for your body type and your size of course, consider it your wisest investment. After all, you’re going to need something to shield you from that startlingly chilly spring breeze. And then those biting winter winds that come next year…and the year after that…you get the picture.
If you’re blessed with pretty blue eyes, and you love Jackie Kennedy-esque structure, shop Philosophy. But, if you like length, check out Anna Sui’s inky, cadet blue number. For just a touch of fur on the hem or around your neck, try Wren or Tucker, and if you’re feeling the wolf-gray vibe, NASTY GAL’s got you covered. My very favorite pick is from Philosophy Di Alberta Ferretti, and I think this Fashionista would approve. With a demure cut, a subtle, yet stylish lavender hue and an ultra-lush texture, this one’s a winner. And no, I don’t even care what you’re wearing underneath. On this rare occasion, it’s what’s on the outside that counts.
