STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Working On Your Fitness

Skipping out on New Year’s resolutions to get fit is so last year! Despite the below freezing temperatures in Happy Valley, Fashionistas all over campus are bracing the cold in style to get to the gym. It may be hard to muster up the motivation to get up from your five hour Netflix session when it’s about 12 degrees out, but as Karl Lagerfeld once said, “Fashion is the healthiest motivation for losing weight.”

Looking good and feeling comfortable in the clothes you wear to the gym is important, especially when you’re sweaty and smelly. When I am working out, I love to wear bright colors from head to toe. I literally own bright neon green and yellow running sneakers. Obviously this Fashionista’s vibrant leggings caught my eye. Leggings at this time of year are a must, whether it be for running at the gym or just walking around campus. Who doesn’t love looking sporty? Lately, sneakers have been a focal point of many Fashionistas’ ensembles. This fellow Stater kept it simple with black kicks to take on her fitness classes. While outside of the gym, sneakers have the ability to complete any outfit. From New Balance trainers to Nike Roshes, this fashion and fitness trend is on point.

Even if your idea of working out is running up your credit card bill, wearing workout clothes is comfortable and cute for a day of hanging out with friends. It also makes you look like a gym rat! Therefore, whether you are hitting the weights or hitting the food court, you are bound to rock this trend.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I always try to present myself well, even if I’m at the gym! I try to wear pieces that I am comfortable in, but that also represent who I am and my style.”
