Style Advice of the Week

We’ve all been at that point in the school year where we are more concerned with being warm and comfortable and less concerned about how we look. As a Style Guru, our jobs have been tested with the recent Polar Vortex, but when the weather finally warmed up a bit, I found this Fashionista and knew I had to feature her!

Most people think it’s nearly impossible to pull off a cute dress during those frigid days on campus, but this lovely lady shows there are no boundaries when it comes to fashion. Regardless of the temperature, there are ways to make an outfit work in a sensible and stylish way.

I loved how she layered her dress but tied the top layer into a knot. She is staying warm but keeping her look fresh and fun at the same time. She continues to keep the season in mind with her Aztec-inspired cardigan and black infinity scarf. She effortlessly completes her look with a pair of ankle boots that have a heel just high enough to flatter but low enough to get around in easily.

When trying to recreate an outfit like this, always keep layering as a key element like she did. It goes a long way especially when that wind is blowing. Adding a cute cardigan or jacket like she did can really pull your outfit together, as well as keeping you cozy while taking on your day!

When wearing a dress like this during the winter months, keep the color scheme season-appropriate like she did. The best way to pull off this type of look is to not make it seem like you’re pushing spring. Strut it in that winter dress, and strut it with confidence.
