STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Wildly Classy

September 29th, 2015 at 2:00am

I am not going to lie, I love a good trend when I see one. But what really gets me excited, is when a Fashionista can manage to combine a current trend with her own runway-worthy personal style. Here on the LU campus, our local Fashionistas are always mixing it up with fun, individual style. Whether it’s a shimmery statement necklace or a North Face backpack, the trends are nothing short of visionary. Currently, one of my favorite looks for a day of classes is pattern mixing. This trend is an oldie, but a goodie as the adage goes; personally, pattern mixing has always caught my eye.

This Liberty Fashionista rocks the pattern mixing trend. A daring use of bright carnelian florals paired with a smart, striped, long sleeve shirt complement one another in a way that’s fresh and fun. When mixing and matching patterns, it is important to contrast the larger prints with the smaller. In this case, the narrow stripes complement the large floral print. This Fashionista adds in a dose of sparkle with an elegant statement necklace. A pair of leopard, slip-on loafers finish off the look for a vibrant, memorable ensemble fit for anything the day has in store. This season, leopard has most nearly taken its place amongst the neutrals, which means the possibilities for pairing are practically endless. Small touches like her dainty silver ring and earrings accent and balance the look for an overall effortless appearance. Looks like this definitely speak volumes and this Fashionista is ready to take on her day, in her own fabulous and individual way.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Take advantage of the changing seasons! The transition from summer to fall is the perfect time to mix patterns and be unexpected. Just own your look with confidence and don’t be afraid to spice things up! “
