If you know me, have read any of my previous posts or even just seen me on campus, you’ll know my wardrobe is primarily made up of black garments. I love to wear the color black. It matches everything (except for maybe navy) and it’s super slimming. Wearing a lot black really makes a statement, dare I say an intimidating one?
But it’s no secret that an all black ensemble is not very practical for the spring and summer months. It’s dark, dreary and a heat trap. And if you’re like me, no matter how amazing I look, it’s not worth breaking a sweat. So what is a Wednesday Addams-inspired Fashionista to do?
This week’s featured Fashionista is a great example of how to maintain a dark, Romantic look while staying in season with appropriate style trends. She begins her look with a white slip dress—light, airy and perfect for the warm summer months. She pairs the dress with a pair of black Chelsea booties. She expresses her personal style with loads of accessories, including a black triangle pendant, skull bracelets and a pair of Wayfarers. She completes the look with a beauty routine to die for; wine colored lips and one hand painted with black nails and the other gold.
If you’d like the replicate this Fashionista’s look, the key is a great, light colored, lace slip dress. From there you can incorporate the darkness with a pair of black boots, spooky accessories or a dark lip color. I’ve even been known to rock black lips from time to time.
So don’t suppress your inner darkness just because the sun is shining extra bright this summer. Find a better way to let it out!
