Style Advice of the Week

Sometimes the best color to wear is no color at all. This year, it seems to be all about the color white.  White was a huge hit this winter, breaking all of the rules and sticking around spring with full force. While white is always a popular color in the summer, this season it is making a much larger impact. My favorite use of white was in 3.1 Phillip Lim’s spring/summer 2014 ready-to0wear collection.

This Fashionista pulled off the trend in an all-white ensemble. White jeans are an absolute must for the warm seasons because it can easily be dressed up or down. Whether it is an eggshell white, like our Fashionista’s, or more of a starch white, having the perfect pair of pants will go along way. White also can be worn with any other color, making it a really easy base piece for those days you are in a rush. She smartly wore her Vigoss jeans cuffed, making the outfit look more even more summer appropriate.

The killer part of this Fashionista’s outfit was definitely her Free People blouse. While I loved the outfit from the front, the monochromatic off white and white stripes were a great way to pull off the trend. The back of the shirt really took me by surprise—she donned a sheer back with a delicate floral design. While an interesting pattern, it did not detract from the white monochrome trend; instead, it added a unique twist. Barely seen under the sheer shirt was a simple lace bralette that added more excitement to the look.

Remember to wear white this spring and summer, and don’t be afraid to do the color in monochrome. Find clothes with interesting details that will add a little flair to your outfit. But word to the wise: If you wear white, be careful because it stains super easily.
