As I mentioned in last week’s post, I spent my winter holiday in the frigid Milwaukee, Wisconsin. And while I love a visit home, I was definitely not prepared to dress for the cold. Layers are a concept taken very seriously in the North.
If you’ve read any of my previous posts, you’ll know I have an extreme appreciation for young gents with exceptional personal style. Fashionistos from Flagler College range from the daring to the reserved, all sporting looks unique to themselves. This week I thought I’d give Flagler’s southern boys a run for their money by posting a Fashionisto from UW-Eau Claire that knows how to layer like a champ. It’s not often boys can do a good job mixing neutrals, so it was obvious I had to capture this look.
This Fashionisto starts his outfit with a gray thermal with a forest green flannel buttoned on top for extra warmth. He pairs the tops with a pair of khaki pants. He keeps his toes safe from freezing by wearing a thick pair of red wool socks and some eclectic camel moccasins. He gives this winter look a finishing touch by wearing a gray beanie, the perfect throw-on accessory for any guy.
Since it’s unlikely we’ll experience any more chilly weather here in Florida (78 degrees in January? Really?), if any of you Flagler guys would like to replicate this Fashionisto’s look we can easily modify it for the heat. Instead of layering both a thermal and a flannel, opt for a stylish short sleeve button-down. Pair that with either pants or shorts. Complete the look with a beanie and some cool footwear like moccasins or boots. Voila! Your look is casual, effortlessly cool and totally weather appropriate.
