STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Warm Up Your Winter Wardrobe

Style Advice of the Week

Over the holiday break I was forced to leave my lovely, mild Florida winter to visit family and friends in the absolutely freezing Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The best part of this trip, you ask? Admiring true winter wardrobes. Dressing stylishly for weather that chilly really is a talent. We Floridians fool ourselves into thinking 50 degrees is scarf and sweater appropriate weather. We are sorely mistaken.

While shopping on the East Side I spotted this Fashionista and was delighted by the way she incorporated upcoming spring trends into her look. Her look starts with an adorable white lace and chiffon baby doll tank. She pairs the top with a pair of ombre teal skinny jeans. Both pieces are bright and perfect for the warmer months, but this Fashionista makes the ensemble winter appropriate by wearing them with a black leather jacket and a pair of wedged, camel booties. She accessorizes with a turquoise pendant and an olive green embroidered satchel, completing the look with a chic top knot.

If you’d like to replicate this Fashionista’s look, keep in mind the key is to pair your fun spring brights with deeper, more neutral colors to insure your brights pop. Snatch yourself a pair of ombre skinny jeans, like thisFashionista, or opt for a bright floral top. To keep your look weather appropriate, pair either with a black leather jacket and a functional but fashionable pair of boots. If you live in an especially frigid part of the country, add a scarf or a beanie for some extra warmth.
