STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Vintage With A Twist

January 20th, 2015 at 2:00am

Often we get bored of our own closets and when living on a college budget, we may not always have piles of money sitting around to spend on new clothes. However, this Fashionista avoided that problem entirely. By going through her parent’s old closets, she found a few items and transformed her dad’s old college crewneck sweatshirt into this cute and vintage outfit.

Crewneck sweaters are great because they come in multiple forms, ranging from lightweight to heavy, making them perfect for different seasons. They can also be worn multiple ways, depending on the look you want to go for. However, this Fashionista decided to pair her crewneck with a knit hat and bold-framed glasses to add a modern touch to her overall look. She kept the rest of her outfit simple with black leggings and combat boots, keeping all the attention on her fab accessories and top. This outfit is perfect for a casual day with friends, in class, at the library or even lounging around at home.

Trends from the ‘80s and ‘90s are coming back into style, this time with a twist. Maybe my parents weren’t the most fashionable back in the day but it’s worth a try to check out what they have. Ask your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles or even friends’ parents and create your own vintage outfit to show off to the world!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Your outfits should always express who you are. Don’t be afraid to be unique or start your own trend when it comes to fashion. You never know, maybe you’ll be the next big thing!”
