Now that it is finally spring in Savannah, it is time to break out the bright colors and sandals. Living in Savannah is the perfect place to hunt for vintage finds. This little town is filled with hidden treasures. From designer consignment stores to basement swap meets, it is a college student’s dream. This Fashionista says she loves vintage shopping, “As an unemployed student I don’t have a lot of money to spend on clothes, [and] when I do I try thrift stores first.” She says they have the best clothes at an inexpensive price, and, bonus, they have a story behind them.
I completely agree. Who doesn’t love an outfit with a story? It is a great conversation starter. Her outfit definitely caught my eye. Her striped rainbow shirt was her mother’s in her college days, and she found the pants and belt at a flea market for 6 dollars. Her shoes are the best part of the outfit. She says she got them at her first swap meet. “I was not even sure how swap meets worked, but I had nothing else to do, so I thought why not?” She went on to say the moment she walked in she saw so many things that she wanted. A girl walked up to her and said she would give her a watch for her shoes and it was a deal. The bag was a hand-me-down and her haircut was art school inspired.
It’s easy to create a vintage inspired outfit. Let’s start with the shirt — try this one from ModCloth. Next, there are the pants. Try these capris from Ballyhoovintage. These sandals from Urban Outfitters are the perfect way to finish the look. Add your favorite cross-body bag and maybe even shave one side of your head!
Dare to be different!
