STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Vest Please

Spring has finally sprung! Well, kind of—it’s a little chilly every now and then, but we all know that’s what spring is about. So now that sun in shining, the days are longer and the weather is starting to warm up, it’s time to ditch those heavy winter coats and grab some warm layering and transitioning pieces.

As the season changes, lighter layers become more of an option. But just because it’s starting to warm up doesn’t mean we have to get rid of all things winter-esque. Whether or not you’ve decided to take part in it, we all know about the fur vest trend. This Fashionista sports a new take with a maxi length vest instead of the waist length version we’re all used to.

This vest tailors to the A/W season since it has both length and texture. As a transitioning piece, the fur plays up the warmth aspect—making it a cozy piece to wear and providing a smooth transition into S/S wear while being lightweight, bright white and having no sleeves.

This Fashionista rocks this statement piece with an all-black outfit as her base. The thicker long sleeve top is essential underneath a vest, as it’s still necessary to keep warm. In addition to the top, black skinny jeans with the infamous knee slit and a nice pair of chunky platform boots make this the classic all-black everything outfit. As she pairs a slightly floppy hat and a rustic silver necklace for the finishing touches, her accessories complement the free flowing style of the vest—balancing everything out.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Everyone needs layering pieces in their wardrobe! It doesn’t matter what shape, color or length—as long as it serves a purpose in layering, use it.”
