Style Advice of the Week

It’s official. Columbia, South Caroline, the “famously hot city” is now incredibly cold. Okay, so maybe every Northerner would laugh at my inability to function when the temperature isn’t even low enough to snow. It’s currently 37-degrees and I have no idea how I am going to survive the rest of winter. When temperatures start dropping, it is important to still continue to look fashionable. I’ll be honest; there have been so many mornings this month where I didn’t want to change out of my leopard print footie pajamas—yes, I am a fan of the onesie. Everyone should own at least one. As comfortable and warm as they might be, looking presentable for class is extremely important.

This Fashionista is wearing an outfit that is perfect for these just-above-freezing southern temperatures—all New Yorkers have probably rolled their eyes by now. The key to keeping warm is to layer. Her army green vest is great to put on top of just about any ensemble. Vests should be on every Fashionista’s winter must-have list.

She completes her outfit with a chambray shirt, a graphic T-shirt, leggings, leather booties and a to-die-for purse. P.S. that adorable bag is 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target and this Fashionista should be applauded for purchasing it before everything was sold out.

This week, make your outfits all about layering. When wearing more pieces you’ll be warmer and add interest to your ensemble. A vest is an easy way to add an extra layer without making you look bulky or like you’re about to go on a ski trip.
