This week’s Fashionista was sporting one of my all time favorite winter accessories, a knit scarf. I can admit I have been in denial of the increasingly cold weather. I’ve tried to fight the cold in a thin jacket or sweater but of course I am always freezing, especially around my neck. Fortunately I have a quick fix that will be sure to guard our chilly necks this winter season, an infinity scarf.
If you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of years, allow me to explain the concept of an infinity scarf. Its main characteristic is the unbelievable versatility it has: you can simply place it over your neck for a loose cowl neck style, loop it twice for volume or wear it as a hood for rainy days. The scarf is available in many fabrics, colors and patterns. From fringe to animal print, there is sure to be a style that complements any one of your outfits.
This week’s Fashionista that I spotted sports a simple yet colorful, thick woolen infinity scarf layered on top of a nude sweater. The chunkiness of her scarf is balanced out with a slim sweater, jeggings and booties (another big trend for this time of year!). Her look is comprised of layers to make it easy for her to either add or subtract a piece for comfort throughout the day. After all, the weather in New England is bipolar to say the least.
To get her look, try this scarf from Free People, it even comes in more than one color. For a more statement piece, buy this item from Urban Outfitters, the fringe will set your scarf apart from all the others. If you like patterns, you’ll love this scarf from Nordstrom. And if you really want to be creative and crafty, try knitting your own infinity scarf (my friend just knit one!). Hey what feels better than getting compliments on something you made yourself? Either way, if you bought it or made it yourself, your scarf will be sure to add a pop to your outfit and keep you warm to infinity and beyond.
