STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Thrifting Treasure

It’s everyone’s favorite season right now. I mean, what’s not to love? Fall is filled with fun seasonal activities, incredible food (that is most likely pumpkin flavored) and, of course, the best of fashion. With sweater weather creeping up, it’s the perfect time to break out your favorite oversized cardigan, chunky jacket, pair of boots and fuzzy socks to top it all off. All of these pieces have been flooding our favorite stores for months now, but one place that is often overlooked for finding these things is your local thrift store. Not only is thrifting great for the environment (and your wallet), it is also the perfect solution to finding a trailblazing fall wardrobe.

Style and trends are recycled, so often times you will find extremely up-to-date pieces at thrift stores, as unlikely as that sounds. Typically these pieces are better quality, more unique and vintage, which is the perfect touch to any article of clothing. This Fashionista is rocking a quintessential fall look that is 100 percent thrifted—and if she can do it, so can you! She has all the fall essentials—a turtleneck sweater, big jacket, pair of high-waisted jeans and comfortable boots. Personally, my favorite part of her look is the sweater layered underneath the jacket. The two necklines contrast perfectly, and the colors go together extremely well and are very appropriate for the season. Plus—her jacket was a total steal. Something like that full price could cost hundreds of dollars, but by thrifting it she saved a ton of money!

All together, her look is extremely fitting for the best season, and is perfect inspiration for college students on a budget. This Fashionista’s outfit easily could have come from high end boutiques, but is really just from her local thrift store. Finding cool pieces while thrifting is a true talent, but with practice, time and determination, anyone can achieve it!
