STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Thigh-High Boots

February 22nd, 2016 at 2:10am

Say “thigh-high boots” and chances are that most people will picture Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman; however,thigh-high boots can be classy when worn the right way, and can even be appropriate for school or work, making them the perfect day-to-night piece.

This Fashionista knows that thigh-high boots are perfect for wintertime weather, as they add an extra layer of warmth (although I’m not quite sure that anything could have protected New Yorkers from the five degree weather we had last weekend).

Calvin Klein, Moschino and Emilio Pucci all included thigh boots boots in their fall and winter 2015 collections, but personally, I don’t think any brand does thigh-high boots better than Gianvito Rossi (take a look at these babies). Of course, Stuart Weitzman’s Highland boots are also a classic, but as a college student, I don’t have $800 (or $2,000) to blow on footwear.

This Fashionista got her boots from Steve Madden, which has an amazing assortment of over-the-knee boots. From flat to thick heeled to thinner heeled, Steve Madden boots provide great quality and are always on-trend.

As a super cute school look, this Fashionista let her shoes do the talking, as she kept the rest of her outfit simple. Her medium wash skinny jeans look classy and sophisticated tucked into her tall boots. Her black turtleneck peeking out from her super cute puffer jacket looks chic while also keeping her neck warm, allowing her to forego a scarf.

She kept her makeup simple, applying a tinted moisturizer, cream blush and mascara. A light pink tinted lip balm adds a touch of color and protects lips from the harsh winter wind. She pulled her hair back into a high ponytail and curled it with a large barrel iron, making loose waves. Lastly, her earrings and glasses added a touch of glam.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Medium wash blue skinny jeans are perfect for pairing with thigh-high boots for the daytime because they keep the look from being too sexy. Black jeans with boots this tall is a look better saved for going out on the weekends.”
