STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: There’s No Place Like Home

There are big screen fashion moments that stand the test of time. The menswear-inspired looks in Annie Hall. Margot’s fur coat in The Royal Tenenbaums. Even Sandy’s good girl gone bad look from Grease. Each of these looks are constantly serving as inspiration for Fashionistas season after season, year after year.

This Fashionista seems to be inspired by Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, even totting along her own adorable version of Toto. Sure, she may not be sporting red heels and a smocked dress. Nevertheless, this Fashionista brings Dorothy’s look into the 21st century by incorporating modern trends and a ton of personality.

This Fashionista swapped out the now iconic blue checked print for something a bit more edgy. While her shirt may still be checked, the black, sheer material is definitely very new age. The top is very sportswear meets spacewear—two trends we are loving for 2015.

She didn’t forget to incorporate the classic blue, however. Her chambray skirt is a perfect basic. The fun and flirty silhouette looks edgy when paired with her top. But the skirt could instantly look more classic when paired with a simple white button-down. Her blue striped socks are one part Wicked Witch of the East, one part Dorothy and two parts totally awesome. They are definitely a statement maker and a fun detail to tie the whole look together.

While her furry companion may steal the show at first, this Fashionista proves that a great look and the right pair of heels can transport you anywhere—including to the pages of CollegeFashionista.
