Style Advice of the Week

Take a look in your closet. I’m sure there’s one item that stands out to you, or one item that your hands instantly reach for. For me, that one piece is my denim button-down top that I can pretty much wear with anything. To own something so universal makes me feel like I made a very good investment when I bought that top. I love hearing from other Fashionistas/os what their favorite pieces are from their own wardrobes.

When I spotted this Fashionisto, he told me how excited he was to finally be able to wear his peacoat again. Unlike myself, his favorite season happens to be winter, which is steadily approaching. While I would much rather wear things like dresses and light jackets, others like to layer up and add a coat to their ensembles. I can’t lie though, fall and winter fashion always makes a statement.

Peacoats are classic pieces for the colder times of the year. The thing I love the most about peacoats is that they can be both dressed up and dressed down. His outfit is a great example of a more casual way to wear a peacoat. Pairing it with some sweaters, a pair of bootcut jeans and combat boots, he’s good to go for a day out with friends, running errands or even for a date.

If you’re one who’d rather wear a peacoat for more formal events, there’s multiple ways to do that as well. Wearing a peacoat with a tailored pair of dress pants and some oxfords will have you looking like the most dapper man in the room. Ladies, peacoats aren’t just for the men! Throw one on top of anything from jeans and a pair of booties for lunch, to a mini dress and wedges for a night out dancing—the peacoat is bound to work for you!

Remember, make the most out of your favorite item!
