I have entered the world of working retail, where I’ve been reintroduced to the concept of the preppy-chic uniform. The other day, I even broke out my old headband from the Catholic school days to add a bit of class to my look. That’s why it was such a breath of fresh air when I came across this Fashionista rocking her ever-trendy printed denim pants.
She definitely made pastel floral pants wearable by pairing them with a soft top in a neutral gray. For those who aren’t quite ready to pull on the crazy pants, such as this cool pair from Dr. Jay, my favorite way to wear printed pants without feeling crazy is to grab a pair whose print color doesn’t vary too much from the base color. Try these red ikat pants or these subtle black lace leggings.
But my advice is definitely to push the envelope even further. This spring, stripes, polka dots, tribal prints and florals are the new wardrobe essentials. So feel free to pair those awesome pants with something other than a simple neutral top. This amazing blouse from Alloy apparel is feminine and flirty but also puts a new spin on the classic black and white stripe look. It would also work perfectly with any printed pant, but I especially like it with floral pants like the ones our Fashionista was wearing. Plus, this top just begs to be paired with a dash of red lipstick, which I love. Hint, hint.
