As a kid I never wanted the longer coats my mother forced me to get. They were reminiscent of the ‘70s and I thought they were the styles of more mature fashion enthusiast. As I matured, I’ve realized now that longer coats can provide warmth as well as style and lately I’ve seen them all around campus. The way students wear longer coats and the many different styles they come in have maybe inspired me to try one on for size.
The style of this Fashionista’s coat caught my eye. The material not only feels comfortable (I know, she let me touch it), but it also looks comfortable. The finish is gorgeous and versatile and the accessories she pairs with it makes it even better. The gold detailing of her infinity scarf adds to the subtle luxurious look of her coat and the leg warmers give it a trendy spin. I agree with her choice to keep her look mostly dark. Bright colors, black and satin could make a way too busy mixture if not taken with precautions. Her boots make this look perfect for a regular school day but to be even more chic try wearing your mid-thigh coat with a bootie or subtle pump. This look will totally give a Sex and the City vibe.
Mother Nature doesn’t seem to be letting up any time soon so pick one of numerous places to get your “more mature” coat. It’ll get you through the rest of the winter. Try this long belted coat, similar to this Fashionista’s, at ASOS. You can count on NASTYGAL to give you a coat with an indie look and American Apparel for a spin on ‘90’s denim. Have fun staying warm.
