STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: The LBD That Took The Night (And The Day)

Style Advice of the Week

If there’s one piece of clothing every Fashionista probably owns, it’s a little black dress. Whether it’s a classic black dress, like the ASOS Skater Dress with Daisy Cutwork, or a bold one like NastyGal’s edgy and revealing Off the Chain Dress, there is an LBD for every Fashionista. While I usually reserve my little black dresses for upscale restaurants, college parties or formal events, this Fashionista showed how to accessorize her LBD to make it appropriate for a daytime look.

The first essential part of transforming her typical nighttime LBD look into a daytime look was adding tights. Her sheer black tights added a hint of modesty that was more appropriate for the daytime than the typical LBD-no-tights-heels combination. By wearing tall black boots, this Fashionista covered up even more and made her outfit much more practical. While her tight LBD would be a provocative choice for going out, this Fashionista balanced it out by also adding a professional element — a bright green blazer. Like her patterned scarf, her blazer added a pop of color and professionalism that was perfect for a daytime look. To complete her look, this Fashionista accessorized with a tennis bracelet and a simple pearl ring. Her use of simple jewelry rather than bold costume jewelry perfectly complemented her LBD daytime outfit and was an optimal choice in maintaining her classic composure.

When dressing in the morning or at night, do not feel compelled to stick to either your “daytime” or “nighttime” clothing. Mixing pieces from both wardrobes is a great way to create unique looks and get more use out of your clothing.
