STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: The Dark Days Are NOT Over

As the summer heats up, most people stop wearing black as their go-to color. This Fashionista laughs in the face of those who don’t wear black every day of their lives. She may, from time to time, incorporate different colors into her wardrobe, but this Fashionista loves going back to the basics with black as the foundation of every stylish endeavor that she takes.

In this particular look, this Fashionista takes “basic” to a whole other level by incorporating black and white into the whole look. I ran into this Fashionista while she was on her way to a Broadway show, so I could tell that she toned down her edgy style just a bit by incorporating white into the look. The black and white striped T-shirt dress is an extremely versatile piece of clothing because it’s a perfect way to stay cool on a hot summer day, but it also can be dressed up for something like Broadway.

The platform shoe is staying on trend as we go into summer 2015, so while sticking to her theme of black and white, this Fashionista is extremely on trend with a pair of BCBGeneration platform sandals. Otherwise, she keeps her accessories minimal with a simple silver bangle and matching ring. The purse this Fashionista has on her shoulder is what really caught my eye. The black and white Céline-inspired Nano Luggage Bag is such a staple piece that I couldn’t help but be in awe of this Fashionista—and anyone else who carries one. The black and white of the bag not only helps stick with the color scheme of the outfit, but it also acts as a standout accessory. Wrapping up this look, this Fashionista carries a leather jacket to add some of her signature edgy vibe, but also because even in the summer, New York City weather is unpredictable.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Always wear black.”
