Style Advice of the Week

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, then I’m sure you’ve heard of the latest “it” boot. Pretty much everyone and their mother has a pair of Chelsea boots; but it doesn’t mean they’ve lost their cool factor! Originally made in the Victorian era for horse riding, they’re characterized by the flat sole and elasticated sides. These boots may be vintage in concept, but the Chelsea boots in stores these days are far from old fashioned!

This week’s New York City native Fashionista rocks her Chelsea boot with a monochrome outfit, bringing her New York cool to the desert of California. Her rolled up jeans show that she’s not on the chilly and snowy east coast but instead in the warm west coast sun. However, her Urban Outfitters BDG Chelsea boots ground her in the fact that despite the warm weather it’s still only February.

Although this Fashionista matches her black Chelsea boots with a simple yet put together outfit, the Chelsea boots are simple enough in and of themselves to be paired with numerous different looks. Of course, the classic monochromatic look is one way to rock them (especially since monochrome is back in for spring), but they can also be perfect to complement printed skinny jeans, like fun, rock chick-esque Frankie B. Jeans or these yellow Forever 21 skinnies!

The Chelsea boot can also nicely complement outfits sans-pants! How about toughening up a colorful floral Joyrich skirt as the warmer weather moves in? Or, sticking with this Fashionista’s monochromatic theme, the boots can be paired with a black and white striped dress, a pair of high socks and a black leather motorcycle jacket!

Although the Chelsea boot is classically black, the boots also come in colorful hues like gold, greenbrown and even fluorescent accented. Whatever color you choose, this simplistically cut boot is the perfect footwear to tide you over for these last few winter months.
