STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: That Boho Flow

A look that I personally enjoy and aspire to wear is the bohemian look, and I was ecstatic to find this Fashionista on campus sporting this style. The one element that makes this outfit work and exude boho-chic is how flowy it is. The garments give it an airy sense and character to the Fashionista. In inquiring about her style, she told me that “a lot of people wear clothes that are slimmer and show off their curves; this is the kind of style that I feel more comfortable in.”

It definitely is a look that is still on the cusp of becoming trendy here in Chicago, but it mirrors the hippie deluxe trend that I saw on an article from Vogue, “Top 20 Trends for Spring and Summer.” The Fashionista’s look imitates the colors and the element of billowing-in-the-wind.

Other places of inspiration which she had mentioned are Europe and Spain in particular. So, I did some digging and found, through Internet-users’ best friend Google, the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Madrid. Sifting through the many designers who presented at the MBFW, Amaya Arzuaga and Ailanto showcased some amazing pants that portrayed a similar effect with the harem pants that this Fashionista was wearing. And I’ve got to say, the pants might be my favorite part of the look: the pockets, the wrinkled touch, how they cut at the ankle and that they cinch at the bottom.

The whole look was very unique and personal, and her dog Maya finished the look!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I think my advice would be to treat yourself. Some mornings when I’m not feeling my best, I always make sure to put a little extra time in how I dress and it often helps me feel better. I have a few pieces that I love and I just feel myself in. So I always keep those at hand and dress for the mood I want, not the one I have.”
