STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Talking Tribal

March 10th, 2015 at 2:00am

At this point in the semester, I am usually struggling with finding ways to change up my outfits. As the cold weather lingers, I tend to wear the same rotation of cozy sweater and scarf combinations. This Fashionista knows how to add a little variety to the usual winter wear.

When I encountered this Fashionista, she was wearing a black winter coat over a colorful tribal print shawl. In addition, she had on a button-down denim shirt. These three layers kept her outfit both cozy and cute. She wore them over black leggings and brown combat boots and accessorized with several earrings and a dainty brown leather watch.

If you, like me, are looking for a way to spruce up your winter wardrobe, look to a tribal print. When paired with neutrals, it brightens the look and adds visual interest. The colors are reminiscent of warm weather and festival seasons, even if it is only 20 degrees here at the University of Notre Dame.

Tribal print is a great way to integrate wearing patterns into your outfits for day. Instead of opting for the usual stripes, tribal print shakes it up in an unexpected way. The wider variety of colors incorporated into the print allow for more matching options. Choosing a cardigan or shawl in this print also provide more layering options for cold weather!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Never doubt the ability of a statement piece to transform an outfit! Just one additional bold color or print can turn a basic combination into something unique.”
