Style Advice of the Week

Travel plans have been finalized and flights have been booked: spring break 2014 has arrived. For most, this means long coastal drives, trips to Cabo or lounging on the beach all day with a Corona in hand.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned while studying abroad, it’s perfecting the art of what to wear while traveling. No matter what your plans are, it’s likely you’ll be spending a significant amount of time in either a car or plane.

While traveling to the South of France this past weekend, I spotted this Fashionista sporting comfortable knits and a pleated maxi skirt. The layering of two knit cardigans keeps things warm and cozy, but can be taken off to expose the light crop top underneath. Pleated skirts are always great for traveling because they’re free flowing and won’t conform to your body in a way that’s tight and uncomfortable. A solid pair of walking shoes, like these flats, are always a must when you’re scrambling through the airport.

What I particularly liked about this Fashionista’s outfit is her incorporation of different textures and layers. From the scarf to the cardigans to the pleated maxi skirt, the entire outfit is perfect for a long day of traveling. Including a few accessories, like tortoise shell sunglasses and plenty of rings, keeps the outfit playful and fun.

Aside from six inch heels and bandage dresses, there’s no wrong way to dress for a day of traveling. But follow this Fashionista’s example, and you’ll be sure to board your next flight feeling comfortable and chic.
