STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Sweater Weather

While attending school in upstate New York, there is one word that should be a staple in everyone’s fashion vocabulary: layers, layers, layers! It is a fact that the temperatures drop quite rapidly up here, but as long as you’re dressed correctly, have no fear.

This Fashionista is killing it with fabulous and festive seasonal colors and a confidence to match. She pairs a warm black knit dress with black tights and black booties—an appropriate outfit to wear to class, dinner with friends or even an interview. Versatility is incredibly important when the climate starts to shift, as it becomes harder to dress appropriately for a sudden downpour or snowfall. Carrying an umbrella or a raincoat in your bag isn’t a bad idea, either!

For an extra boost of warmth, she tops the outfit off with an oversized knit shawl. Easy to take on and off throughout a hectic day on campus, this effortless addition to her wardrobe not only keeps her cozy, but it adds the necessary amount of color to complete the outfit. Because fall oh-so-quickly transitions into the long, dark and seemingly endless winter, it is crucial to incorporate color into your wardrobe for as long as you can, as winter can tend to breed darker hues of gray and black.

Feeling chillier than usual? Throw a heavier coat or a scarf on over your ensemble and you’ll be ready to take on your day in style and without discomfort.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Without comfort and warmth, you’re in for a miserable semester of walking to classes. Bundle up!”
