Style Advice of the Week

The past couple of weeks Mother Nature has been absolutely insane. It will feel almost like summer one day and then there’s snow on the ground the next. Yes, I did say snow in the South! Students enjoyed their time off from school and frolicked in the little amount of snow we had, while people farther north thought we were just as crazy as the weather. Two days after people were making snowmen and cities were shut down, the South returned to 70-degree weather. Needless to say, it’s been difficult trying to figure out what to wear when the temperatures are dropping and rising so quickly.

This Fashionista is wearing a perfect outfit for the bipolar weather. Her striped sweater will keep her warm and also looks chic. Great layering pieces, sweaters can be put overtop of a chambray shirt to give an ensemble a put-together look. The sweater combines the best of both worlds—bad Hannah Montana reference—with patterned stripes. Combining these two prints adds interest and makes her ensemble unique. In the ever so wise words of Spongebob Squarepants, “The best time to wear a striped sweater is all the time.”

She completes her outfit with a pair of black skinny jeans, a chambray collared shirt, a black leather bag and denim booties. These items give her ensemble a relaxed feel, which is perfect for a day walking around on campus or hanging out with friends.

This week, I hope Mother Nature figures out that it’s better not to have all four seasons in seven days. In the unlikely event that this will actually happen, always be prepared to layer before leaving for class. It’s better to have a sweater on and be able to take it off than to freeze for the rest of the day!
