STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Sweater (Dress) Weather

November 19th, 2015 at 2:00am

Comfortable. Urban. Cool. Trendy. Chic. These are the words that came to mind when I spotted this Fashionista outside of some vintage stores in Florence, Italy. For a day of shopping and walking around the city, she wore an outfit that was perfectly comfortable without looking like she just rolled out of bed. Starting from the bottom, she rocked a neutral pair of Converse sneakers—the perfect footwear accessory for comfort and style. A slim fitting pair of joggers kept the look laid back and sporty while the ribbed knit top under a sleeveless sweater dress resulted in a cohesive style that balanced comfort with high fashion. For accessories, she wore some small bracelets and a necklace with a stone pendant that she bought at a boutique during one of her travels across Europe.

Head-to-toe sweater dressing is up and coming for many designers this season. Instead of resorting to bulky layering as the temperature drops, many designers are choosing to dress their runway models in fewer layers of warm sweaters. When it comes to fashion, always think quality over quantity!

I think we can all agree that the best part of being a girl is the ability to wear dresses for ultimately any occasion. Short, long, dressy, casual, long-sleeve, strapless–the possibilities are endless! But with cooler weather approaching, we don’t actually have to put our favorite go-to girly pieces aside. All is takes is a little layering!

By investing in a staple sweater dress, you can create a ton of different looks to carry over from fall to winter and even to spring! Opt for a lighter neutral one that can be paired with both dark and light layers.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t be afraid to pair pieces that are typically seen as very casual, such as sneakers, with ones that are typically dressed up. You’ll be sure to create a look that stands out—in a good way!”
