STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Surviving the Tundra

February 2nd, 2015 at 2:00am

Happy February, everyone—we’ve finally reached the height of this chilly winter season. And while I’m sure most of you are already as tired of this weather as I am, we can’t just give up on our fashion senses at this stage in the game.

Avoid reaching for those baggy, oh-so-tempting sweatpants and sweatshirts and follow this week’s Fashionista’s suit: she’s more comfortable, warm and chicer than ever in this all black ensemble. She keeps cozy in a simple pair of black leggings, but only allows the pants to peek through a little bit by the thigh. She covers herself in fashionable puffy down jacket zipped extra high and equipped with arm pockets, which create both a practical and pretty statement. Soon, the jacket’s hood is added for both extra warmth and cuteness.

The outfit is complete with a sleek pair of pleather, knee-high riding boots. Fit with delicate silver side buckles, the boots stand as a closet staple that is trendy yet timeless all at once.

Thanks to the roomy, plush jacket our Fashionista is sporting, she’s able to layer accordingly throughout this rather fickle weather. Although not depicted in photos, this Fashionista is comfortably able to pile on a number of articles of clothing, which included a delicate beige tank top and a soft Brandy Melville knit. Despite obvious reasons as to why you should own a big, fluffy parka during the East Coast winter season, every Fashionista knows that owning such a piece is essential to staying on your style A-game.

One Simple Change: Who knows, we may hit an all time high of 30 degrees within these next few days. If you’re feeling extra risky and flirty, swap out the giant jacket for a more delicate trench coat to create an equally chic ensemble.
