Style Advice of the Week

We’ve certainly come a long way from the neon green windbreakers and hot pink tutus of the ‘80s. Today, we’re able to wear bright colors without looking garish. This ability is especially important this time of year, since nothing breaks away from dreary winter wardrobes quite like a splash of color.

This Fashionista has embraced spring with just the right amount of color. Her splash of color comes from her hot pink skinny jeans. She balances the jeans out with polished and sophisticated pieces. She’s matched some tall tan boots with a bleached denim jacket. Underneath she is wearing a peplum blouse and a gold medallion statement necklace.

Although her jeans are bright, this outfit has stayed mature and sophisticated. By choosing subtle, neutral pieces for the rest of her look, the jeans take center stage. If she had chosen a neon green top and an electric blue jacket instead, the outfit would have been overwhelming and immature. Say you have a neon yellow cardigan, pair it with a simple white tee, indigo jeans, nude pointed heels and a black handbag and you’ve got a chic and modern outfit suited for a day of errands.

Another way to try out bright colors, in a sophisticated manner is with chic patterns. Floral patterns always balance out bright colors. Try a magenta floral shift dress with black heels, a clutch and a top bun and you’re ready for a nice dinner.

The bright color trend seems to come and go, so make sure you try it out this spring, while you still can!
